The Henry Ford

The Henry Ford is at 20900 Oakwood Blvd. This five-venue complex commemorates 300 years of the American experience through exhibits, tours, programs and special events.
Henry Ford Museum celebrates American innovative genius. National treasures include the Rosa Parks bus, presidential limousines, the chair in which Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and a folding camp bed used by George Washington. The museum includes permanent and temporary touring exhibits.
In Greenfield Village more than 90 acres include nine historic districts with buildings of historic significance. Vintage transportation, skilled artisans and costumed presenters can be seen daily. Important sites include the Ford Birthplace, Wright Cycle Shop and Noah Webster House. An IMAX theater is inside the museum. The Benson Ford Research Center's reading room is open to the public.
Light clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended. Food is available. Allow a full day.

Arab American National Museum

Arab American National Museum is at 13624 Michigan Ave. across from City Hall. The museum resembles a mosque and has a vaulted mosaic ceiling. Various aspects of Arab-American history and culture, including the Arab immigrant experience and the nationality's impact on American society, are portrayed through exhibits and interactive displays. Cultural artifacts and a gallery of works by contemporary Arab-American artists also are displayed.
Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Automotive Hall of Fame

Automotive Hall of Fame is at 21400 Oakwood Blvd. adjacent to The Henry Ford. Plaques and memorabilia are dedicated to the men and women of the automotive industry. Honorees include designers, educators, inventors, journalists, manufacturers, race car drivers and automotive association members. A library also is available.

Dearborn Historical Museum

Dearborn Historical Museum has collections at 21950 Michigan Ave. and 915 Brady St. The museum includes two buildings of the original 1833 United States Government Arsenal. An exhibit annex has farm equipment, wagons and buggies. The Richard Gardner House, built in 1831 and furnished in period, belonged to the family of one of Henry Ford's childhood friends. The commandant's quarters contains period furnishings and military displays. The McFadden-Ross House depicts a 1900 farmhouse and holds the City of Dearborn Archive.
Guided tours are available by appointment. Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Ford Rouge Factory Tour

Ford Rouge Factory Tour begins at The Henry Ford at 20900 Oakwood Blvd. A bus ride from the museum to the factory includes video narration about the historic features on the factory grounds. At the factory visitors can see rare footage of the facility's history. A second theater features special virtual reality-type effects, allowing visitors to experience automobile production. An observation deck and walking tour of the assembly plant where F-150 trucks are assembled complete the tour.
Food is available. Allow 2 hours minimum.

Henry Ford Estate--Fair Lane is on the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn at 4901 Evergreen Rd. Tours of the mansion and powerhouse are given. The Fords entertained such luminaries as Charles Lindbergh, the Duke of Windsor and President Herbert Hoover in their spacious mansion. The powerhouse, the combined creation of Ford and Thomas Edison, gave the estate the independence to produce its own power, heat and light. Gardens and trails are on the grounds.
